Hackettstown Livestock Auction Worker Seriously Injured After Being Charged By 1,200 Pound Cow

An 18-year-old livestock auction employee was hospitalized with serious injuries after a 1,200-pound cow charged at him in Hackettstown, authorities said.

The man was attempting to put the cow into a stall at the Livestock Auction Market on West Stiger Street when the animal charged at him, knocking him into a gate and down a concrete ramp around 10 a.m. Tuesday, Hackettstown police said.

The man, who was conscious and alert when police arrived, suffered head and facial injuries and was taken to Morristown Medical Center by Hackettstown Rescue Squad.

Saint Clare’s Paramedics assisted at the scene.
